DESCRIPTION

Under the supervision of the Director of Website and Multimedia Production and in conjunction with the Director of Communications, the Web Developer will support the planning and implementation of web and new media initiatives for the College's marketing and communications strategies. This individual's work will strengthen the College's mission, public image, and increase awareness to internal and external audiences. The work of the Web Developer will require a strong attention to detail, ability to work under tight deadlines, enthusiasm for all things Web, and a passion for supporting excellence in higher education.

EXAMPLES OF WORK

- Maintain, plan, design, and test efficient and usable web-based applications and features to existing in-house and third-party applications.
- Provide daily operational support and maintenance of production web applications and websites.
- Participate in the creation and implementation of new initiatives for added functionality of applications and websites.
- Integrate web-based systems with custom and off-the-shelf software packages and information systems.
- Integrate the College's brand into all new projects.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

-Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a closely related field preferred.
- Two to five years of computer/web programming experience in the PHP programming language preferred.
- Strong expertise in HTML; HTML5; xhtml; CSS; CSS3; JavaScript; including working knowledge of jQuery library.
- Strong expertise in Server Side Scripting languages, especially PHP. Knowledge of ColdFusion helpful.
-Solid mastery of SQL Server 2008/2012 and interacting with SQL databases within webpages
- Ability to integrate third party APIs into web projects
- Superior organization skills, attention to detail, and time management skills.
- Strong problem solving and analytical abilities.
- Ability to navigate complex organizations and work on cross-functional teams/various committees in a higher education environment.
- Able to work independently as well as in a collaborative team atmosphere.
- Must be innovative self-starter with excellent organizational skills who is an achievement-oriented, creative and analytical professional that thrives in a team-based environment.
- Demonstrated experience communicating effectively in person and through writing with diverse constituents, including a range of highly technical and non-technical personnel.
- Experience building websites and experience with and ongoing research and discovery of both Server Side and client-side web programming techniques and best practices is required.
- Ability to adapt to changing organizational needs and project requirements.
- Experience managing and prioritizing multiple projects and adhering to specific deadlines or goals.
- Demonstrated experience working with content management systems.
- Demonstrated experience with building applications using existing database management systems to effectively generate dynamic web content.
- Knowledge of best practices for online content management, online user behavior and Section 508 accessibility standards.
- Enthusiasm for learning new technologies and staying up-to-date on new trends

REQUIREMENTS

Education: Graduation from an accredited college with a Bachelor's degree supplemented by a Master's degree in a field related to the position to be filled or equivalency as determined by the appointing authority.

Experience: Two years professional experience in a field that is directly related to the functions of the position to be filled or equivalency as determined by the appointing authority.

Applicants who do not possess the required education may substitute required experience on a year-for-year basis (30 credit hours are considered one year of college).

A Doctor of Philosophy degree or a Doctor of Education degree may be substituted for two years of the required experience.
