Web Application Architect

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

Maintain and upkeep the WAS v5, v6, and v7 Infrastructure. Retirement of older WAS software versions and migration of applications to the newer versions. Platforms encompassed: Solaris, Windows, Linux. Other application connectivity as relating to J2EE Infrastructure may also have to be manipulated

JOB DESCRIPTION:

- Responsible for WebSphere Application Server software installation, administration, configuration, security, customization, performance tuning and troubleshooting
- Provide good understanding of concepts related to server load balancing, WAS clustering and other application scaling concepts.
- Provide solid analytical and troubleshooting skills (Unix, Web and Application Servers)
- Provide assistance in UNIX (Solaris) and Windows platform
- Support off-hour deployments and on-call rotation in 24x7 production support
- Participate in infrastructure planning, recovery, and conversion activities.
- Communicates appropriately in verbal and written form with business clients and colleagues
- May be asked to provide IT services for applications other than WAS that would be consistent with other duties.

SKILLS:

Ability to provide high-level technical assistance to application development teams

- Ability to evaluate, install, test, configure, maintain, monitor performance of, and troubleshoot WAS hosted applications
- Ability to follow stringent change management practices and policies in a production environment
- Provide assistance in UNIX (Solaris) and Windows platform; WAS v5, v6, and v7
