Web and New Media Communications Officer

Web and New Media Communications Officer sought Edinburgh, for a 3 month public sector contract.

The role-holder will play an integral part in the promotion, communication and implementation of departmental and corporate policy objectives.

While having experience and strengths in web and new media, you will be expected to operate effectively in a multi-disciplinary environment, working in teams and projects which incorporate a blend of communication methods from:
*electronic communication and service delivery, and multi-media productions, including web, new media and emerging communication technologies
*graphic design and photography
*marketing, campaign development and events
*advertising research and planning
*media sponsorship and promotional packages
*income generation including sponsorship and advertising sales
*media management and liaison
*internal communications
*communication strategy and policy development for both internal and external communication
*customer communication and customer care.

Responsibilities:
Provide web and new media consultancy services to the organisation and partnership groups.
Advise project teams on the most appropriate form, range and scope of web and new media required for specific projects.
Develop policies, standards and protocols for the websites and new media in line with new legislation.
Implement and explore best practice use of web and new media tools - with a specific focus on best value for citizens, staff and organisations.
Promote a corporate approach to communications through web and new media developments.
Co-ordinate, plan and maintain the quality, usability and accessibility of the organisations website content and content-related services.
Respond appropriately to queries, suggestions and concerns about website content from both staff members and the public.
Provide guidance on best practice standards in web publication.

Requirements:
Degree or relevant professional qualification in a related discipline.
Extensive experience of managing content management systems, maintaining taxonomies, and using a wide range of web publishing software.
Clear understanding of the technical requirements and demands for web and new media services.
Experience of working in a large, complex organisation and be able to deal with conflicting. priorities to achieve operational and strategic objectives.
Awareness of diversity issues.
Excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiating skills are essential.
Ability to communicate at all levels both verbally and written.
