USABILITY RESEARCHER BELLEVUE, WA 12 MONTH CONTRACT

Our high-visibility client is tasked with building next-generation experiences for new devices and form factors, particularly tablets, phones, and the web with the aim of driving innovation. Their research team is seeking an exceptional UX Researcher with a proven track record for creating and conducting a variety of different study methodologies. This is an exceptional opportunity for someone who is excited about making an impact on future apps and web experiences.

As a successful candidate, you are passionate about exploring interesting research questions for applications and have an insatiable appetite for conducting research. You will work with Design, Product, and Engineering teams to help them understand current user behaviors and pain points. You will synthesize the key issues and communicate them to the product team and management. The responsibilities of this position will vary but you must be comfortable conducting research for all stages of the user-centered design process: from early stage research, concept feedback, design iteration, through to surveys and benchmarking.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Use your research to identify new opportunities and generate innovative ideas that influence the product direction
- Drive your work through the software development process, working as part of a multi-disciplinary product development team of User Research, Design, Product Planning, Program Management, Development, and Test
- Collaborate with teams across the organization to ensure the client maintains industry leadership, delivering innovative, exciting and emotionally engaging products
- Work collaboratively with other researchers, and work on multiple interrelated projects to completion on schedule
- Assess data from multiple sources, synthesize it, and translate into actionable recommendations

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

- 3-5 years of experience conducting primary focused on quantitative research (eg, surveys, analytics, benchmarking)
- Masters degree in Psychology, Human Factors, HCI, or related field (eg HCDE)
- Passion for user research and strong end user advocate
- Demonstrated proficiency with industry-standard research methodologies
- Solid quantitative research skills including developing research plans, experimental design, collecting and analysing human behavioral data in a large survey, A/B testing, and analytics data
- You must have strong work practices and a proven record of delivering research findings on time for demanding and complex research questions
- Highly detail-oriented, self-motivated, highly organized, able to work in a team environment that is fast-paced with multiple projects, excellent verbal communication and presentation skills

Ideal Candidates will also have:

- Experience conducting lab studies involving touch (mobile or tablet)
- Experience conducting lab studies with hardware/software interaction
- Familiarity with touch interfaces (eg iPhone, iPad, Kindle Fire, Nook Tablet, and Android)
- Background in market research, survey research, or public opinion research
- Experience processing data from large datasets (work with behavioral or attitudinal data a plus)
- Knowledge of SPSS and Excel
- Experience with quantitative analysis (sampling methodology, crosstabs, etc.)
- Experience creating data visualizations from large datasets
- Ability to convey straightforward insights from complex data multilingual skills a plus
- Work related experience in Human Machine Interaction or usability required
- Demonstrated skill in collecting and analysing human behavioral data required
- Excellent communication skills required
- Must be able to work independently or as part of a team
- Experience in project management preferred
- Master's degree in Psychology, Human Factors or related field required or Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Human Factors or related field with equivalent work experience in Behavioral Science
