UNIX SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR PORTLAND, OR CONTRACT OPPORTUNITY

Currently we re seeking a Systems Admin who can be responsible for the recovery procedures for Radar 2, Radar Content Collector, Kodak and FileNet systems. Serves as a technical expert in the review system logs, maintain user access administration, generate system backups, system audit logging, and monitor system performance activity. Investigates and analyzes feasibility of system requirements and develops system specifications. Identifies methods, solutions, and provides project leadership and management in order to provide a high level of service to the customers of the department.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Manages the day-to-day operations by monitoring system performance, configuration, maintenance and restoration
- Recommends the redesign and configuration of operating systems and system applications.
- Ensures that records of system downtime and equipment inventory are properly maintained. Works with vendors to assist support activities.
- Establishes, maintains and manages users UNIX accounts.
- Installs, modifies and maintains systems and utility software on server computer systems. Provides server support related to other software.
- Completes Scripting for monitoring (Webservices, Windows Services, Batches, etc.).
- Provides daily L2 support for Remedy Incidents, Capture - Monitoring, FileNet Capture, Scan Jobs (Kodak), and KCP.
- Ensures Data Migration Import/Export/Monitoring of Data and Workflow.
- Configures the server components appropriately for different target environments: Development, Test, QA/Staging and Production.
- Works very efficiently in multi-tasked environment dealing with several software and hardware systems and solutions concurrently.
- Is highly capable of enterprise level deployments numbering across 50-150 Servers.
- Incorporates HA for all systems and underlying components (including Web Servers, HTTP Servers, Database Servers etc.).
- Implements tools and scripts to assure Availability, Operations and Performance 24x7.
- Develops test cases and test harness to monitor, execute and metrics on Availability, Operations and Performance.
- Demonstrates good bookkeeping and documentation on all deployment, processes, configuration and change management.

REQUIREMENTS

- 3+ years of experience in the implementation, operations, development and maintenance of IT systems and/or administration of software functions in multi-platform and multi-system environments
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Business Administration, or a related field
- Proficient understanding of design, implementation and sustainment activities of IT systems
- Familiarity with infrastructure management ITIL techniques such as change management, problem management, release management, configuration management and/or system life cycle
- Expertise in Load Balancing and Clustering in order to deliver High Availability
- Experience with Unix, Windows and/or Linux environment including common suites and core business applications
- Familiarity with reporting tools such as MicroStrategy and Cognos
- Ability to write SQL queries, SQL scripts and understand SQL based programming
- Ability to analyze, diagnose and resolve system performance problems or outages
- Must be automation focused and demonstrate an attitude to build systems that work for you and not vice versa
- Must be able to effectively communicate with coworkers and all levels of management both verbally and written
- Ability to work across functional and business teams, work with small teams and excel as individual contributor as and when required
- Weekend hours of operation may be required
