Unix Solaris Systems Administration Manager

Background
Our Central Government client require a Unix Solaris Systems Administration Manager to be based in Newcastle to start ASAP until the end of July. Due to the nature of this role Valid SC Clearance is essential.

Main Duties/Responsibilities
Responsible for. Monitoring, installation, configuration, management and maintenance of the UNIX Solaris Systems, to ensure secure services with minimum downtime. Implementation and release of changes as submitted by the development team or customer(s). Participation in introducing and integrating new technologies into existing data centre environments. Monitoring system hardware to ensure timely escalation and resolution of any faults. Analysing system logs and identifying potential issues. Contributing to the identification and appropriate escalation of all information risks (including security, integrity and quality). Prioritisation of workload to meet customer requirements and expectations Reporting any incident or situation where it is suspected the security has, or may have been compromised

Accountable for. Supporting the provision of a robust and secure IT environment to enable the delivery of a customer focussed service to key Business Areas

Skills/Experience Required
Demonstration of working in a Unix Solaris System support role.. Planning and risk management skills Desirable. ISEB in Enterprise and Solution Architecture. ITIL v3 Foundation Certificate

Formal Qualifications Required
Basic Solaris Administration. Advanced Solaris Administration. Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. IT Troubleshooting skills. Extensive experience of Solaris 10 Administration on M Series, T Series and X Series Servers. Practical experience of server software and hardware build and maintenance Desirable. ISEB in Enterprise and Solution Architecture. ITIL v3 Foundation Certificate

Evaluation Criteria
1 Extensive experience and working knowledge of UNIX Solaris 10 Administration on M Series, T Series and X Series Servers 2 Practical experience of server software and hardware build and maintenance, including excellent IT Troubleshooting skills 3 Extensive experience of providing application maintenance an support for: - Solaris clustering 4 Experience of UNIX Shell Scripting and Solaris 10 operating system 5 Strong self-sufficiency and initiative working on IT projects
