Unix / Linux Systems Administration

You will not find another company like my award winning Digital Market Leader based in South Yorkshire. This long established marketing & design company are looking for an experienced Unix / Linux Systems Administrator to join their growing operations. The systems administrator will work with a team to monitor stability and performance of existing systems.

In this role you will be required to work with developers, analysts and other system administrators to install new software, upgrade existing software and configure new and existing systems.

You will be responsible for applying patches and performing system maintenance. The ideal candidate will show previous experience of being able to proactively monitor system integrity to discover, diagnose, troubleshoot and facilitate.

You must be a strong team player working collectively with the entire operations team to monitor stability and performance to ensure 24x7 availability of critical services.

The successful candidate will also be willing to participates in on call rotation.

The Minimum Requirements for this role include:

* Extensive understanding and experience with Unix and in particular the Linux operating systems.

* Minimum of 5 years experience related to Linux systems administration.

* Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills.

* Strong communication skills both verbal and written.

* Ability to work well with internal and external customers with varying degrees of technical experience.

* Self, motivated, independent learner who can work well within a team.

In order to be successful and be considered ahead of other applicants, you would ideally have the following skills / education:

* Bachelors degree preferred.

* Experience with SQL databases, especially MySQL, Oracle, and PostgreSQL.

* Proficient in hardware installation, repair, and troubleshooting.

* Knowledge of Nagios monitoring system

* Knowledge of networking infrastructure, including switches, wireless networking, and routing.Experience in multiple environments, including Linux, Windows 2000/XP, and Mac OS X
