OLCS User Acceptance Test Lead - Level 7 / SEO reporting to Chief Information Officer (CIO) Directorate

To be based in Leeds with the possibility of ad-hoc travel to Bristol, our client is looking for an OLCS User Acceptance Test Lead to work in the OLCS (Operator Licensing and Compliance System) Project Team leading the testing on all aspects of user acceptance testing across the Licensing and Compliance line of business.
You will be working alongside external development teams leading and providing guidance in the planning, co-ordination, and execution of user testing to contribute to the improvement in the quality of software delivered and to reduce the risk of errors.

Main Duties

* Is responsible and leads all user acceptance test activities.
* Manages and supervises the User Acceptance Tester whilst actively testing.
* Conducts testing and assurance of new software and provides support to others completing testing.
* Provides a source of expertise in techniques involved in the testing of software.
* Uses JIRA to document and manage testing.
* Develops appropriate test scripts to validate and confirm business functionality.
* Provides support during implementation and roll-out of OLCS.
* Works with Key Business Representatives to ensure all testing findings are correct and assess whether they have an impact on the business.
* Assist with systems implementations to ensure minimal disruption to the organisation.
* Produces documentation/reports associated with User Acceptance Testing.
* You will have some line management responsibility
* Reports to an OLCS Product Owner

Skills and Experience

* Holds a recognised testing qualification e.g. ISEB
* Experience of leading a test team focused on the verification of business functionality using manual techniques following handoff from automated testing.
* Previous experience in leading in a test team whilst actively testing.
* Experience of non-functional testing (e.g. Performance, Cross Browser, Usability, Accessibility etc.).
* Good understanding and experience of how to test in an Agile environment with regular delivery iterations.
* Testing frequent deliverables arriving from the development team.
* Experienced in assessing, prioritising, and managing defects through to closure.
* Demonstrates a level of technical awareness and an understanding of software architectures.
* Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with various stakeholders (both technical and non-technical).
* Capable of working directly with the business to gain acceptance of the software.
* Willingness to travel as requested

Desirable

* Experience of exploratory testing techniques to supplement automation.
* Experience of non-functional testing (e.g. Performance, Cross Browser, Usability, Accessibility etc.).
* A sound understanding of BDD techniques.
* Experience of JIRA.
* Good understanding and experience of test automation using Selenium-WebDriver, JMeter, RSpec, Jnario, Jira, Burpe Suite.
* Public sector experience
* HGV and PSV licensing awareness
