Transmission Network Engineer - Cabling/Cabinets/Ducts/Ethernet/Dutch

TRANSMISSION NETWORK ENGINEER - CABLING/CABINETS/DUCTS/ETHERNET/DUTCH

The Network engineer will work often on premises of the customer, where the new infrastructure is being implemented and tested. Activation of the infrastructure is usually done in service windows, following strict change management procedures (involves night work in service windows).

The Engineer Transmission is responsible for translating network designs and plans into real-live, state-of-the-art transmission networks and associated infrastructure (transmission cabling, ducts, cabinets etc.). The engineer makes sure that core transmission network capacity is built according to existing guidelines. Internally, the technical specialist is a consultant for other departments which have questions in the transmission area. Externally he maintains contacts with the suppliers.

TASKS

- Engineering of the Transmission network (based on designs and plans from the transmission specialists)
- Prepare requests for quotations, evaluate quotations
- Prepare the ordering of Transmission equipment and cabling/cabinets/ducts/etc.
- Handle the Transmission Request process. Maintains an up-to-date overview of the Transmission request status.
- The engineer is leading and executing Transmission implementation projects. He/She plans and monitors the projects on time, money and quality. He/She periodically reports on the running projects.
- Maintain relationship with the customers of Transmission and develop the infrastructure in co-operation with them
- Administrate the (changes in the) Transmission network

COMPETENCE

- Familiar with engineering modern transmission systems
- (Basic) Knowledge of Ethernet/IP/MPLS technology
- Preferably relevant working experience in the telecommunications industry
- Knowledge of: T2000, (PTN 3900/950/910, OSN 7500/3500/2500/1500/500 en DWDM OSN 8800)
- Responsible, Service minded, flexible, taking initiatives
- Dutch speaking
- Willing and able to work on a shift rota - including nights and weekends if required
