Training Manager

The Department of Transport, Bristol is looking for a Training Manager.

Location: Bristol
Contract Length: 6 months, strong likelihood of an extension
Security Clearance: 1. BPSS (DS) - Baseline Personnel Security Standard (with a Disclosure Scotland)

Previous exp:
TRAINING MANAGEMENT ROLE
Working with qualifications (ideally both!)

Working in and around projects (motor vehicle/technical projects)

Involvement in running focus groups to solicit opinions etc
Public sector and private sector mixed background

Job Purpose
The post holder will be required to provide and use their Subject Matter Expert knowledge of DVSA, Learning & Development and the MOT Scheme to develop and refine and deliver the future delivery model for MOT training.
The post holder has the authority to run the Workstream on a day to day basis on behalf of the Project Executive & Manager and will be responsible for ensuring that the Workstream produces the required Products and Work Packages within the specified

Main duties and responsibilities: Design and develop a range of training programmes. Perform a training needs analysis to set learning objectives and create training plans. Produce course materials and other documents such as hand outs, manuals and exercises. Deliver training in both formal informal settings. Monitor and review training results to ensure knowledge is effectively Embedded and utilised appropriately in accordance with learning objectives. Assist with the effective roll out of supporting operational processes. Help managers identify and address specific learning needs, either on a one-to-one basis or in groups. Share best practice and resources in training, learning and assessment. Conduct train the trainer sessions for key projects. Promote a professional image to customers (internal and external) at all times. Deliver effective and responsive training sessions in line with business needs to a range of audiences. Analyse feedback and engage in continuous improvement of training processes.

* Preparingincludes developing and implementing any required transitional arrangements and changes to job roles within the organisation;

* Testing the proposition robustly, with a range of internal and external stakeholders; and via market soundings, further inform development;

* Liaising with specialist internal assurance and specialist functions such as economists, lawyers and IT as required;

Education
Desirable
* Knowledge of the Agile approach to project management
* Certificate in Training Practice or equivalent

Experience & skills

Essential
* Previous experience in a training and development role
* Experience of Project Management delivery, skills and techniques
* A good understanding of reporting methods
* Excellent Interpersonal and diplomacy skills with the ability to confidently interact at all levels within DVSA and external contacts
* Evidence of facilitation skills to enable requirements gathering and definition.
* Track record of creating a service culture
* Evidence of improving the performance of organisations departments and individuals
* Working in a project based environment
* Multiple stakeholder management
* Evidence of implementing a CPD scheme

Desirable
* Experience in use of MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint
* Knowledge of government procurement rules and processes
* Knowledge of the organisations Target Operating Model for Education and Advice
* Working in a project environment - specifically the development of supporting business cases and products.
* A sound knowledge and understanding of DVSA business and its strategic focus.
Knowledge of the MOT Scheme - specifically the current training model and proposed future arrangements

Essential
* Willingness to travel across UK with some overnight stays possible when necessary (London/Manchester potentially)
