Trademark Paralegal

Projektbeschreibung
On behalf of our client in the Life Science industry, Harvey Nash is looking for a Trademark Paralegal for a 6 month project in Switzerland.
The role is about providing a diverse range of complex IP formalities tasks from trademark filing to registration including renewal handling under limited supervision from manager; is a key contributor and has excellent skills, knowledge and understanding of IP issues.
You are responsible for
- Independent, timely and correct handling and processing of all incoming trademark mail and updating IP database accordingly
- Independently fulfilling IP administrative and formalities tasks in relation to trademark filings, prosecution, registration and renewal processes with limited supervision from manager without loss of priority and trademark rights.
- Preparing regular due date list for trademark attorney
- Ensuring all data are timely docketed into IP database and prepares summaries and regular, trustable and updated reports
- Organizing signature, notarization, and legalizations of documents and sending of the documents within deadline
- Handling manual trademarks invoices and be first point of internal contact for trademark invoice issues; communicating issues to vendor and/or manager
- Operational assistance in matters relating to agreements, acquisitions and divestitures and organize and ensure the transactional workload, including assignments and changes of ownership of Novartis' or third party trademark portfolios
- Good interaction and networking with other trademark paralegals from other divisions to ensure alignment and consistency in procedures
- Management of trademark renewal (incl. designs) process
- Providing operational support for trademark conflict matters
- Providing 1st level support in investigating on trademark use and gathering evidences to support registration, conflicts, renewals
- Portfolio review: preparation of regular reports; provide data on trademark protection versus sales
- Keeping Intranet pages for NAH TM up-to-date
- Regular follow-up of status of trademark and design applications (incl. renewal and conflicts)
- Ability to guarantee continuity of IP operational procedures in absence of team leader
- Actively participating in projects as a representative of Animal Health and provides deliverables on an agreed timeline
- Training and educates new IP operational employees within own area of responsibility
- Providing back-up for patent paralegal
Requirements
- 3-5 years experience in trademark law firm/corporation
- Knowledge of trademark docketing software systems and legal databases
- Trademark paralegal certificate or experience in trademarks desirable
- Commercial training (eg Swiss Association of Commercial Employees, business school) or equivalent, eg Swiss Matura plus business experience Bachelor (preference Legal)
- Previous experience as trademark paralegal desirable
- Basic legal training (paralegal course or acquired on the job)
- Familiar with legal terminology
- Knowledge of other language (eg German, French) advantageous
- Fluent in English (spoken and written)
