Thermo-Mechanical Engineer

This role would ideally suit a Thermo/Mechanical Engineer with strong industry experience ideally in Space product domain. The work area is designing high end thermal heat frames for ruggedized single board computers and other electronic devices to be used in rugged conduction and convection cooled environments.

Key Responsibilities

Design of leading edge Mechanical components for Electronic assemblies used in the Space arena
Perform Thermal & Structural analysis on designs
Participate in design and functional specification reviews and provide feedback
Ensure mechanical designs meet quality and design criteria
Work closely with hardware & manufacturing engineers to ensure design is optimised
Perform all aspects of mechanical development life cycle - from requirements capture through to customer support
Generate documentation and reports
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives (processes, tools, project management)
Produce customer documentation for processing and deployment by Technical Publications group
Liaise with other Hardware/Software Design Assurance & Manufacturing teams
Research, test and qualify thermal materials
Develop new Thermo/Mechanical testing qualification methods
Keep abreast of new Thermo/Mechanical developments
Develop in-house Thermo/Mechanical innovations and Patents where feasible
Review new Thermo/Mechanical patents on a regular basis
Carrying out investigations and testing for RCCA

Qualifications/Requirements

You will have knowledge of Solidworks 3d CAD software and structural FEA.
A broad knowledge of various methods of manufacture such as casting, machining, extruding etc.
Strong problem solving abilities
Have excellent organisational and communication skills
Strong Six sigma/statistical analysis/FMEA skills
