Test Engineer (Mechanical)

A Mechanical Test Engineer is required on a contract basis for a World Leading Engineering Company based in the UK.

Job: Mechanical Test Engineer

Rate: 35ltd - 36ltd p/h

Location: Midlands

Duration:- 6-12 months+

Shift pattern - 6-2 (week one) 2-10 (week two)

As the successful Mechanical Test Engineer you will have the following knowledge and experience:-

Responsible for the planning, setup, commissioning and support of engineering tests on aircraft fuel system pumps, actuators and hydro-mechanical units.

Key areas of responsibility:-

*Providing support and resolving technical issues to ensure test requirements are met.
*To develop the knowledge required to provide advice to project teams on instrumentation and rig control issues to ensure that the appropriate equipment is available and correctly defined in advance of the rig build.
*Understanding DSEAR requirements and ensuring compliance for all testing in ATEX certified zones.
*Continuously improving the departments test capability and quality of test data.
*Ownership of departmental procedures, guidelines and training material.
*To write concise and appropriate test reports for which appropriate guidance will be given
*To ensure HS&E requirements are adhered to at all times
*Supporting a wide variety of fuel system tests such as hot and cold fuel, vibration, fire resistance, and simulated operation.
*Diagnosing faults and problem solving hydraulics, pneumatics, instrumentation and control systems.
*Developing a strong practical working knowledge of fuel control systems and the certification process to support the development of new test strategies.
*Designing hydro-mechanical test circuits.

Qualifications
*Relevant engineering degree or equivalent experience.
*Strong engineering background, preferably in a test environment.
*Good time management and ability to continually prioritise workloads.
*Strong communication skills.
*Proficient with MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
