Test Engineer Job

TEST ENGINEER needed for an CONTRACT Opportunity with Yoh's client located in PLAINVILLE, CT.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

- The NPI test engineer works within the new product introduction technical staff to coordinate, develop, and execute on testing needed as part of the product development effort.
- Works closely with the design team to submit appropriate tests to ensure a robust design.
- Upon completion of tests, the test engineer works with the team to evaluate tested samples.
- Will root cause any test failures, and also work with the design team to develop a solution.
- Works with the manufacturing teams to develop test samples needed to verify product robustness.
- Works with NPI team leadership to develop outside agency certification strategies for the product.
- Responsible for working with internal and external labs to coordinate and execute on tests according to testing plan.
- Completes post-test evaluations, including root cause analysis of any failures. Works with design team to determine possible solutions. Documents test results for future reference.
- Acts as the NPI team point of contact with outside test certification agencies.
- Works to coordinate all equipment needed to complete appropriate testing.

QUALIFICATIONS:

- BS in engineering discipline Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- Four (4+) years of professional technical experience.
- Basic knowledge of CAD Software - Preferrably ProE
- Electrical distribution & protection industry experience.
- Knowledge of UL, NEMA, IEC, CCC and ANSI standards and test procedures
- Experience in engineering testing and design of experiments.
- Ability to travel up to 10 %
- Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of Design for Six Sigma, Design for Reliability, and general data analysis tools.
- Technical experience with electromechanical devices.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute project plans.
- Demonstrated ability to work with global engineering teams.
- Working knowledge of New Product Introduction, Change Management, Six Sigma, Lean, and Design For Reliability processes.
- Demonstrated experience in applying engineering fundamentals to resolve complex product performance, root cause analysis, and quality resolution issues.
- Strong organization and analytical competencies.
- Strong team player and willingness to provide support to other team design activities.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, and verbal written communication skills.
