Test Engineer

The primary responsibility of this position is to work with designers and analysts to plan, set up, and execute structural durability field and lab tests for dynamically loaded light structures and engine installations, to perform experimental modal analysis tests, to analyze test data, to document results and to provide recommendations for improving product durability. The individual will be responsible for executing their own test work as well as assisting other engineers with setting up and running their tests. An important part of the position is to make contributions to resolving complex, sometimes challenging structural & dynamic issues. The individual also may be asked at times to execute or support driveline dynamics tests.

Requirements:
This job requires an accredited four year engineering degree and 5 years of experience in dynamics & vibrations, 2 years of experience with off highway equipment or engine structural testing, strong initiative, good communication skillsThis position will require working at heights in the shake lab. Employee should be comfortable working around lab test equipment and heavy construction machinery. Limited Travel is required. In addition, the individual will be expected to work to maintain a safe and professional work environment, participating regularly in safety inspections and identifying ways to perform the job more safely.

HIGHLY DESIRED:

- Strong analytical and problem solving skills with prior experience in structural dynamics testing and/or prior machine development experience
- Familiar with Multi-Axis Simulation Table Testing and MTS hardware/software
- Experience with data acquisition systems and instrumentation, specifically eDAQ data acquisition systems
- Experience with Digital Signal Processing, signal analysis, and fatigue analysis
- Familiarity with on-machine structural testing methods, including knowledge of strain gage techniques, bolted joint testing and accelerometer usage
- Experience with experimental modal analysis and associated software tools such as LMS Test.Lab and MEscopeVES
- Software experience with DATK, ProE, VisView and standard MS Office programs
- Excellent mechanical aptitude
- Project management experience
