Teradata Technical Specialist

Our client currently requires the services of an experienced Teradata Technical Specialist.

The Teradata Technical Specialist role is responsible for the provision of specialised technical skills required to develop and support Data Warehouse (DWH) Applications that underpin the clients's Enterprise Reporting and Operational Analytics capabilities.

The occupant of the role must possess analytical and strategic thinking skills of a high order; have extensive background in Data Warehousing; have a strong technical knowledge of the Teradata, Microsoft, IBM Mainframe environments, IBM DB2 Loging; and be able to understand business and user requirements.

The prime responsibilities include:

- Application of specialist skills to develop and support Teradata DWH systems that underpin the client's Enterprise Reporting and Operational Analytics capabilities (eg TBBF, ERPOW, MR releases)
- Application of specialist skills to develop IBM DB2 Log Scraping solutions.
- Providing technical advice to management and staff involved in development and support of business applications in a Teradata DWH environment

The role will support DWH capabilities that are evolving to cater for changing business requirements and the Organisation's increasing reliance on the DWH to support business activity.

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

The successful applicant should have EXTENSIVE and CONTINUOUS Teradata Warehousing experience working as a Teradata Developer, Systems Architect or Administrator, including working with V12 RDBMS and TTU12 or later.

- Demonstrated understanding of and ability to implement DWH best practice
- Experience in the following areas:
- Teradata Application Development
- Teradata SQL
- Teradata Infrastructure Design and Architecture

And a good understanding or experience with:

- Teradata Infrastructure Administration
- Teradata Infrastructure Implementation and Configuration
- Sound understanding of Teradata security principles including a sound understanding of the types of authentication and access controls in host environments.
- Expert technical expertise and understanding of the Teradata technical architecture, data warehouse operational environment, performance optimisation, data provisioning, ETL processing and reporting, packaging and deployment of Teradata Objects.
- Experienced in working on a Microsoft platform
