Teradata Contractor - Urgent Dublin

ROLE: Datawarehouse & Business Intelligence Contractor
This is initially contract position for 90 days
(This contract will most likely roll-over multiple times thereafter for suitable candidate - lots of project work available for 2013)
LOCATION: Dublin City Centre
START: Must be available to start as soon as possible.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS:
- Minimum 5 years' experience working in Data-warehousing environment.
- Knowledge of Datawarehouse methodologies and Datamodelling.
- Strong Experience with Teradata
- Strong Database Skills (Teradata/Oracle/SQL)
o Efficiently query very large data volumes of data
o SQL query performance tuning
o Teradata Tools and Utilities
o Adhere to development and data quality standards
o Knowledge of Indexes, Stats, Triggers, Macros, Procedures, OLAP functions. - ETL Tool preferably Datastage ( or Ab Initio/Informatica )
- Ability to work closely with stakeholders from various teams within the company.
- Data Warehousing skills
- BI Development & Consultancy
- Scripting - Shell, Bash, AWK, ssh, sFTP.
- Cognos/Brio
DESIRABLE SKILLS:
- Datamodelling
- Unix
- Business Intelligence
- Business Analysis
- Telco experience
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE:
- The position will involve aspects of design, development, testing, business analysis and document BI Solutions.
- Ideally candidate must have the ability to move and access freely on a Teradata database which is based on a Unix platform. Candidate must be familiar with writing queries and loading tables
- Produce and implement ETL Designs.
- Work with BI project leads to deliver Projects.
- Work on post project implementation analysis, investigation and troubleshooting.
- Ideally the contractor will have the ability to use Datastage to extract data from source and deliver it to target.
ADDITIONAL:
Scripting - previous experience with Shell Scripting would be a distinct advantage Reporting will be done through either Cognos or Brio so familiarity with these tools will be required. Ad-hoc data analysis may be required. Collaborative approach with stakeholders.
BUSINESS ANALYSIS:
Meeting the stakeholders to elicit the business requirements is a core requirement of this role. Such meetings may involve large to smaller groups sometimes led by a project manager and clear communication is essential to obtaining a clear picture of what is required. Bridging the gap between business elements & IT/(BI) aspects is important aspect of the position to ensure success in this position. Once sourced data is identified the contractor will work with internal Business Intelligence team to model the data and make relevant changes.
Datamodelling will be used to represent the elements of data that have been identified for change/move and the full normal life cycle will be followed until the change has been delivered.
