Telecom Field Support Tech

Based in Pascagoula Mississippi, work as part of a team to provide telecom support to offices and facilities at client locations in the area. Candidates must be able to work independently to provide skilled telecom technical support for installation, configuration, maintenance, repair and troubleshooting of telecommunications systems and associated equipment, primarily, Nortel PBX with Meridian Option 11, 61, and/or 81, Voicemail Systems Meridian Mail and Call Pilot, as well as Key Systems.

Additional responsibilities will include support for Voice Over IP, pipeline SCADA support, and support for data network Switches. Vehicle and tools provided.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Provide telephone installation and support services including connection and voice mail setup.
- Perform trouble-shooting and MAC support for all telecom equipment.
- Diagnose, test, repair cable/wiring problems (wiring closet to desktop and backbone).
- SCADA communications network, including hardware and communications infrastructure.
- Work with Local Exchange Carriers (LECs) and Long Distance carriers to isolate and resolve communications circuit troubles.
- Use Cross Functional ticketing system (Remedy) for reporting, documenting, and tracking problems as well as internal billing and inventory control.
- Provide on-call after hours trouble support on rotating basis.
- Document existing systems and cross-train with other techs.

REQUIREMENTS

- 5+ years in Telecom support experience
- Telco experience a plus
- Oil field and/or Refinery experience preferred
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Possible (rare) overnight travel may be required
- Ability to climb, bend, stoop, walk and stand for long periods of time
- Excellent driving record (vehicle provided)
- High School diploma or GED
