Technical Writer/Training Developer

The technical infrastructure services team is running a program to drive organization change and implement processes and capabilities that will improve our ability to define, implement and manage infrastructure services that provide value to the organization.
There are multiple concurrent projects within the program with many stakeholders. We are looking for a high energy Technical Writer to assist in developing and documenting procedures, job-aids and training materials for the Service Request and Channel Management project within this program.

The scope of Service Request and Channel Management project is to automate service requests via BMC Remedy software. As part of that work, there will be supporting procedures and job-aids identified that will need to be developed for users. The Technical Writer will work with subject matter experts and stakeholders to understand the needs, conduct interviews, work with the software tools, and translate information gathered into clear documentation (procedures and job-aids) focused on the user. The Technical Writer will also be required to create training materials for the procedures and job-aids. The training materials include presentations, instructor notes, student handouts and class exercises to reinforce key points.

Top Daily responsibilities:
Investigating necessary information via interviews and exploring available tools to document procedures and job-aids
Reviewing the job-aids with select subject matter experts and other stakeholders to obtain feedback
Developing training materials and conducting reviews of the materials
Identifying ways to improve the process to develop procedures and job-aids
Timely completion of assigned tasks

Experience Requirements:
Strong experience in technical writing with a focus on accuracy, clarity and succinctness
Experience in showing ideas graphically
Experience interacting with subject matter experts and stakeholders - interviewing and listening and using technical writing skills to translate, teach and explain.
Experience in developing training using a training development methodology and/or techniques such as TNA (Training Needs Analysis)
Technology Infrastructure Services experience a plus
Minimum 3+ years as a technical writer/training developer or related work

Educational Requirement: AA/AS degree preferred

Expertise in MS Office (MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint) with advanced expertise in MS Word
Good interviewing and listening skills
Demonstrates the ability to translate technical and/or complex information and concepts into clear, easily understood information for end users

Nice to have:
Process Engineering Experience
Experience in Visio, Sharepoint
Past experience creating procedure documents, job aids, and training for BMC Remedy v7

Soft Skills:
We are looking for someone that is a clear communicator, organized, team player, comfortable with ambiguity and change. Candidate must be a quick learner and self starter; due to the compressed time frame of the project, candidate will need to rapidly come up to speed on content.
