Technical Writer/Software Development

Yoh has a three (3) month plus contract opportunity available for a TECHNICAL WRITER WITH SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT EXPERIENCE in Falls Church, VA.

POSSESSION OF A DOD SECRET SECURITY CLEARANCE IS REQUIRED AS A CONDITION FOR EMPLOYMENT.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Review, edit, and write end-user documentation (SRN, IG, UM, Online Help, Readme, Navigation Tips) for 31 software applications
- Create and edit PowerPoint presentations
- Review and create knowledgebase articles
- Attend weekly status meetings and adjust documentation schedule
- Track documentation metrics
- Peer review QA and Business Analyst documents
- Assist team with miscellaneous document requests

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Requires intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Desired knowledge of help authoring system (MadCap preferably).
- Preferably Bachelor of Art or Science in English or Technical Communication.
- Five to seven (5-7) years of technical writing experience in a software development environment -SDLC
- Excellent writing skills
- Expert command of grammar and punctuation
- Experience designing and writing end-user documentation, including: user manuals, software release notices, installation guides, online help, and readmes
- Experience working with analysts and software developers to develop documentation
- Proven ability to deliver quality materials under tight deadlines
- Advanced user of MS Word
- Intermediate user of Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Adobe Professional, and MadCap Flare (or other online help system)
