Technical Writer (Oil & Gas Industry)

Yoh has an eighteen (18) month contract Opportunity for a TECHNICAL WRITER (OIL AND GAS INDUSTRY) to join our client in Houston, Texas.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

- The Technical Writer will develop and write operating procedures, user guides, manuals, white papers, design specifications, system manuals, project plans, test plans, specifications and various business process procedures, for oil and gas production, processing and treating equipment or plants. This includes the balance of plant equipment including electrical systems; PLC based control systems, and other support equipment or systems for the plant. Procedures will typically be developed from technical data, which may include PFDs, P&IDs, Electrical One-line Diagrams, Design Basis, Cause & Effect Charts, Safe Charts and Vendor Manuals.
- Technical Writer will have the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

- The Technical Writer must be able to create, assimilate, and convey technical material in a concise and effective manner.
- TECHNICAL WRITING EXPERIENCE: THREE (3) PLUS YEARS IN OIL & GAS INDUSTRY.
- Oil & Gas industry experience: minimum five (5) years as operator, maintenance technician, engineer, supervisor.
- OIL 3-PHASE SEPARATION; OIL AND GAS DEHYDRATION; GAS COMPRESSION; METERING AND EXPORT; UTILITY AND AUXILIARY SYSTEMS.
- Computer/Software Knowledge: Windows; Microsoft Word.
- ABLE TO READ VARIOUS TYPES OF TECHNICAL DRAWINGS SUCH AS P follow directions and cooperate well with others; be willing to help with the overall success of the project.
- Must be self-motivated and able to accomplish quality work with minimal supervision.
- Must be resourceful, able to do obtaining technical information by doing research and making contact with vendors, operations, commissioning, construction and engineering personnel.
- The Technical Writer must have the Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
