TECHNICAL WRITER FOSTER CITY, CA 6 MONTH CONTRACT

The right candidate will be responsible for executing content management for and layout/design of the Operations Manual (a technical day-to-day job guide), the sourcing website and additional ad hoc projects to be defined. This position oversees editorial content aimed at all 10,000+ global employees. In addition to overseeing editorial strategy, this position interviews and researches subjects, writes, edits and manages the production of communications products.

This position requires superior writing and editing skills. The Tech Writer must also possess the ability to review, edit and compile work and provide appropriate feedback to others. This work, guided by the Director of Operations, is a key component of the organizations communication, process mapping and standardization efforts.

RESPONSIBILITIES TO INCLUDE:

- Assembling the groups manual from multiple writing sources
- Ensuring content is well written and logically structured ie ensure clarity, accuracy and flow
- Providing direction and feedback to contributing writers
- Copyediting and proofreading text for grammar, consistency, accuracy, sense and readability
- Meeting deadlines for moving copy through the production process from draft to final proof
- Ensuring online Intranet content is correctly formatted and typo-free
- Making sure images, illustrations, captions and links are correct
- Correcting broken or erroneous links and make Intranet page updates when necessary
- Providing weekly overviews of major projects, including what items were accomplished and which are important for the coming week
- Maintaining detailed trackers for ongoing projects, including deadlines and responsible parties for all

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

- Bachelors degree in English, communications, journalism, writing or related field
- 5+ years of effective and relevant experience in writing and editing materials appropriate for corporate audiences, including print and online media
- Excellent computer skills, including MS Word editing tools for Operations Manual design
- Experience working with project teams and graphic designers
- Successful track record of working effectively with colleagues at all levels
- Ability to multitask and prioritize
- Technical writing experience a plus
- Work samples required
