Technical Writer Job

Yoh has a contract-to-hire opportunity for a TECHNICAL WRITER to join our client in Sunnyvale, CA.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

- To develop and edit user documentation, including use manuals, instruction for use, and other related items.
- To manage these development projects to meet quality and timeliness commitments to the product development team
- Develop technical content for user manuals through input from hands-on experience and subject matter experts.
- Plan, develop, write, edit and lay out technical user documentation, including all necessary graphical elements such as pictures, screenshots and diagrams.
- You will develop a thorough understanding of a system, device, instrument, process or software application to produce documentation that enables the user to identify and use the product or application.
- You will have the support of an Illustrator to acquire or create and edit graphical elements used in technical documentation you develop.
- Drive development of user documentation from project planning to final release through the design control process.
- Create and release ECOs for user documentation.
- Follow internal standards and operating procedures for meeting regulatory compliance requirements.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

- A BS/BA in life sciences or technical communication, related BS technical degree, or equivalent experience required.
- Demonstrate ability to develop and edit highly effective and graphically rich user documentation, of substantial length when necessary, that minimizes complexity and confusion for the user.
- Demonstrated ability to understand and describe complex technical devices that include both hardware and software.
- Willingness and ability to be "hands-on" and proactively interview subject matter experts.
- Prefer at least one to three (1 - 3) years, writing user documentation for medical device companies.
- Experience with design control/document control systems (Agile preferred).
- Effective communicator who enjoys working on small teams under aggressive timelines.
- Ability to plan and execute user documentation projects.
- Must have expert ability using desktop publishing applications, particularly Adobe FrameMaker.
