TECHNICAL CONSULTANT WANTED FOR OUR END CLIENT IN THE HAGUE!

Hourly rate: 60,00 Euros

Our client is implementing a search solution based on Apache Lucene library and Elasticsearch/Solr search engine.

Since user requirements of the project go beyond out-of-the box features provided by Elasticsearch/Solr, the project implements several custom solutions which are aimed at extending standard search engine functionality.

The purpose is to procure a service that will review and validate the proposed implementation and guide the setting-up process for Elasticsearch/Solr cluster to be hosted on provisioned Linux environments.

Service to be provided
1. Validation of the implementation
a. validate approaches taken in the implementation of the business use-cases;
b. review the structure of documents in the index, advise best practices and identify possible pitfalls;
c. code review and improvements;

2. Set-up of the environment
a. advise on the setting-up the cluster: sharding, replication, load-balancing, etc;
b. tuning settings for best performance and scalability (also taking into account infrastructure characteristics);
b. guidance on management and monitoring tools;
c. testing the performance of indexing and searching;

3. Other activities
a. workshops tailored for developers and operational support;
b. provide appropriate guidance in client access implementation patterns;

The service is to be delivered as a set of reviews combined with documentation and implementation artefacts. A portfolio of enterprise architecture patterns with corresponding implementation guidance is expected to be delivered and updated periodically. Expected deliverables are documents (reviews, findings, reference architectures, links to best practices) as pragmatic code and configuration examples that suit the use cases.

Requirements
1.Extensive knowledge of the Apache Lucene project;
2.Proven expertise in the architecture and implementation of large-scale search applications based on Solr/Elasticsearch;
3.Experience in customisation and extension of features provided by Lucene-based search engines;
4.Excellent English communication skills both orally as in writing.
5.Proven aptitudes to cooperate with other engineering areas covering diverse technical specialties;
6.Ability to work in a multicultural environment.
