I am currently recruiting for experienced Technical Authors to work in Belgium for a high profile defence client of mine.
Some key information regarding the position is as follows:
Client:
The client is a world recognised Defence Company specialising in the provision and in service support of weapon systems for light and medium weight military land vehicles.
The client is seeking 3 Technical Authors in order to grow the team due to the increase in projects and workload.
Rate: Up to €400 per day
Duration: 6 months+
Location: Belgium
Start date: ASAP
The Role:
As an ILS Technical Publications Engineer, you will be responsible for the following activities:
*The establishment of technical specification requirements as applicable to technical documentation (User Manuals, Maintenance Manual, Illustrated Part catalogue)
*Creation of data modules, validation, compiling and publishing in accordance with S1000D process
*Monitoring technical publication inputs and activities from the subcontractors through to the internal/external (Engineering, Product Support, Prime Contractor, End Client) teams.
*Monitoring of changes, corrections and amendments to the respective technical documents.
*Ensure the necessary data to support both internal and external customers program milestones.
*Coordinate with program stakeholders (Design Office etc) involved in these activities, both internally and externally.
*Communicate to ILS Program managers information necessary for the production of technical offers.
*Prime interface for Technical Publication outsourcing control.
*Oversee all aspects of technical documentation creation, including team member review, verification and production release
*Extensive experience and judgement to plan and accomplish goals and resolve to perform a variety of tasks, within the ILS group.
*Ability to work effectively with individuals and groups representing Technical Publications throughout the company when required.
*Provide regular updates on project status to project team and management.
*Proactively identify potential project risks with mitigation actions.
Required Work Experience:
*Functional knowledge of S1000D processes
*Experience in creating technical documentation, using tools including Framemaker, Arbortext Editor v6, Arbortext Publishing Engine v6, Adobe Acrobat Professional, Adobe Illustrator, FOSI Stylesheet, DTD, IETM Compiling Software, etc.
*Proficient in MS Office (2007) applications, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access. Knowledge of SAP is a plus
*Good facilitator, team spirit, organised, rigorous, available, motivated by the achievement and have the sense of initiative.
*Experience in the Defence industry would be considered advantageous
