FULL TIME - 37 HOURS PER WEEK

SOUTHEND ON SEA, ESSEX

TEMPORARY CONTRACT UNTIL 31ST MARCH 2014 (WITH A VIEW TO EXTEND)

Southend Borough Council are seeking a Team Manager for a children's Care Management Team. Candidates will need to demonstrate substantial experience and success in Team Manager roles within statutory frontline settings. Candidates must be able to use IT and be proficient in this area.

Southend is good with outstanding features and we therefore are seeking a manager who has worked in Local Authorities which are similarly high performing. We will not offer interviews to any candidate who has gaps in their employment history or who moves job frequently.

To ensure the Council provides a first class professional service within the social work team by being responsible for the efficient and cost effective provision of a needs-led services to children, young people and their families.

Managing a team of Senior Practitioners, Social Workers, Children & Families Workers and Administrative staff.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Recognised Social Work qualification & registered with the General Social Care Council

Evidence of continuing professional development inc management skills training

Extensive knowledge of methods of social work intervention, child protection and looked after children

Knowledge of relevant legislation, regulation & key government initiatives

Detailed knowledge & understanding of the framework for the assessment of children in need and their families & other social work tools

Knowledge of the principles of performance management

Knowledge of equal opportunities issues in relation to staff and client management

Experience at senior social worker level in children's social work services with families with varying needs and complexities ie front line duty team, continuing care & court work, children with disabilities

Experience of multi-disciplinary integrated working

Contribution to other professionals learning & staff supervision

Previous experience of staff management
