New Directions Education is currently looking to recruit a Teaching Assistant to provide extra support to the class teacher within the classroom. The role would suit an individual with previous knowledge of working within mainstream schools across Birmingham. We are looking for applications from individuals who have a can do attitude towards their work and can offer both one to one support and team support to pupils within a mainstream school working within key stage one (KS1) and key stage two (KS2). The school has local links with other schools and nurseries in the community and is well known for having a warm and friendly community and with parental support.

The school is easily accessible on public transport and is a ten minute walk from the local train station which has regular trains running into central Birmingham. The school caters for nursery, infant and junior children. The ethos of the school is through their caring and talented teachers, quality teaching will ensure the children leave this school with the key skills and knowledge that they need to succeed when they go to senior schools and then later on, for jobs. The school is a multicultural school in the heart of Birmingham and equal opportunities is delivered to create a warm and friendly environment for pupils.

The school requires a teaching assistant that can fit in well with other team members and able to interact with children on all levels and all abilities. You must ideally be level 3 qualified and have a proven record of working within schools whether on a paid or voluntary basis. Teaching Assistant Qualifications

Duties of a Teaching Assistant

Assist in the educational and social development of pupils under the direction and guidance of the Head Teacher, SENCO and Class Teachers;
Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Programmes (IEP) for students and help monitor their progress;
Provide support for individual students inside and outside the classroom to enable them to fully participate in activities;
Assist class teachers with maintaining student records;
Support students with emotional or behavioural problems and help develop their social skills.
