Are you strong with Numeracy & Literacy and can communicate clearly with children?

An immediate position has arisen for a confident educated individual TA who can work with pupils who have numeracy In addition to good quality curriculum resources there is an up-to-date computer room and a well stocked library.

The School is a smaller-than-average comprehensive school serving the community of Sparkhill. The proportion of students known to be eligible for free school meals is well above average. Almost all of the school population come from minority ethnic backgrounds including Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Yemeni and Somali heritages and most speak English as an additional language. The proportion of students with special educational needs and/ or disabilities is well above average. The school was awarded specialist sports status in 2000. The school has gained the International School Award (intermediate) and has Healthy Schools status. It has also been accredited as an Investor in People. The school is fully accessible and makes special provision for 10 physically disabled learners managed by the local authority.

Students are proud of their school and they typically say, 'We are like a family' and 'We get a buzz out of supporting our school.' Students feel safe, behave well and the learning climate is positive. It is a vibrant, multicultural community with all the staff sharing a common philosophy which places learning at the heart of its work. There is a good sense of teamwork and mutual respect between staff and students. Relationships in lessons are positive and most students are eager to participate although sometimes they lack the confidence to work independently. The school has adopted a robust approach to literacy development and this is taken on by most subjects. Students' communication skills are also attended to and as a result their literacy and Numeracy are improving and, as it does so, their confidence grows. Staff display high levels of commitment towards every student, reflecting the school's caring and inclusive ethos.
