OVERALL JOB DESCRIPTION

- The Tax Specialist's main responsibilities are to provide high quality tax accounting, reporting and compliance in accordance with internal and external requirements, support the mitigation of tax risks and provide relevant high quality tax advice to the business.
- The role will with predominantly focus on UK corporate taxes (Corporation Tax, VAT and Employer Taxes) with some exposure to Irish corporate taxes (Corporation Tax and VAT).

RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to the Tax Director, and based in Guildford UK, the Tax Specialist will have the following key responsibilities for legal entities within UK and Ireland:

- Preparation and submission of Corporation Tax returns
- Review of VAT, EC Sales List and Intrastate returns prepared by offshore Financial Shared Service Tax Reporting Centre
- Provision of tax advice to the business and operational units;
- Identify potential tax risks and take appropriate mitigation actions;
- Prepare FIRE tax reporting and local statutory account tax reporting;
- Ensure Corporation Tax and VAT payments are made on a timely basis and that tax payments/refunds are monitored and followed up;
- Preparation and submission of appropriate R
- Maintain tax master data in the financial systems to ensure they are up to date;
- Assist in preparation of local transfer pricing documentation;
- Manage routine enquiries with tax authorities;
- Provide support for tax audits;
- Assist Tax Director in maintaining a robust control framework for the purposes of Senior Accounting Officer ( SAO'), including a regular assessment of the effectiveness of tax controls Embedded within the relevant business areas; 
- Quarterly signoff of applicable SOX and SAO key controls relating to Corporation Tax and VAT;
- Maintenance and development of high quality tax processes
- Contribute towards global tax efficiency and quality programs.

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES 

- Extensive knowledge of domestic and international UK Corporate Tax legislation and their application in a global multinational environment
- Good knowledge of UK and EU VAT and Employer Taxes legislation and its application in a multinational environment  
- Good knowledge of tax accounting, reporting and disclosure principles under IFRS or UK GAAP
- Basic knowledge of UK Employer Taxes legislation and its application in a multinational environment
- 3 years + relevant experience in UK and international corporate tax environment, gained either in public practice or in an in-house tax department
- Experience of using enterprise financial systems, preferably SAP
- Microsoft Office experience to Intermediate level

- Qualified Tax Accountant (ATT or CIOT)
