Position Title:Systems Integration (Senior) Engineer - Module Leader

Job Description

Joining a World Class team of Systems Integration engineers to provide electrical systems module leadership ensuring delivery of all module related activities on a specific programme from prototype through to production

Accountability/Key Responsibilities

- Support to automotive OEM for module prototype and production build phase system validation
- Act as project and technical lead for suppliers for all issues relating to components and sub-systems related to the relevant vehicle electronic system module being led
- Management of plans and processes integrating with customer and suppliers

Regular tasks will include:

- Lead regular process reviews (typically every 2-4 weeks) with key delivery personnel
- Lead regular reviews with application lead and key members of delivery team to review timing, technical and quality issues
- Lead regular technical meetings with suppliers and key customer personnel
- Represent Client in person at production builds for all responsible commodities
- Represent Client in person during build phases at prototype test rigs and prototype vehicle
- Lead component/system packaging and installation in conjunction with the CAD team and suppliers, including generation and management of Component Design Specifications (CDS)
- Manage scheduled software (including functional code and calibration data sets) releases where necessary

Everyday tasks will include:

- Ensure status reporting through line management and vehicle project teams
- Manage issues, issuing action notes, ensure slippage contained and escalation if required
- Coordinate Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEAs), functional safety, Design Validation Plan (DVP) and application sign-off
- Collate application quality reporting process data
- Identify all design and development funding required and ensure inclusion in relevant budgets, ensuring value-for-money quotations and justifications, and raising all necessary billing and funding documentation
- Support plant launch activities including engineering sign-off tracking, concession processes and management of Engineering Change Requests (ECRs), especially for re-work and containments
- Cost and weight management, including raising cost change documentation and final finance support
- Releasing of Engineering Concerns using formal tools system and review meetings
- Related resource planning
- Maintain bills of materials for the module components and sub-systems
- Maintain documentation for key contacts, reporting structure, meeting schedules and file all key project data centrally and with relevant access rights for key personnel
- Support Manufacturing and after-sales for module component and sub-systems
- Support homologation certification activities

Personal Attributes
In order to be successful, you will be able to demonstrate:

Must Have
- A strong track record of vehicle engineering project and/or product development within the automotive industry, preferably in volume production programmes
- Strong technical background in at least one area of vehicle systems - Control Systems, Integration, Infotainment, Electronics
- Strong information transfer, communication and inter-personal skills at all levels
- Robust character with a strong drive and motivation to succeed
- Proficient in English (written and spoken) for project and technical communication

Should Have
- Great patience in dealing with client and team situations coupled with an ability to accept and positively respond to frequent changes
- Significant experience of system requirements capture and test (using formal tools)
- High degree of flexibility and willingness to travel
- Organized and rigorous with personal target of high quality delivery
- Methodical approach to issue investigation and resolution
- Experienced in DVP planning, test specification, execution and reporting (using formal tools)
- Releasing production intent components (using formal tools)
- Credibility in a wide range of customer situations
- Being able to work under pressure and self-manage own time deadlines
