Systems Engineer Oracle

Oracle/Sun-Solaris Senior System Engineer.

The candidate will contribute to the innovation, the technical design, and the development of a large Oracle/Sun-Solaris infrastructure. The management of this infrastructure covers different aspects, going from the hardware integration within the context to the OS build and software stack creation, all within an international scope.Since all operational tasks are executed by an outsourcing partner, he/she should be able to handle and maintain such an international working relationship and to lead them in a structural and professional way.On top of that he/she will assist in the migration towards the new Linux (RHEL) virtualized environment.

You will be part of a small team of Oracle(SUN-Solaris) and AIX/Linux specialists that guarantees the standardization, the reliability and the stability of an innovating physical and virtual environment. The Senior System Engineer will report directly to the IaaS Team leader.

Job description

As an Oracle/Sun-Solaris engineer you will be part of a IaaS team and expected to carry out the following tasks:
·Together with the Solution Architect and the Platform Architect, analyze business requests and translate them into a detailed technical design that relates to the bank strategy.
·Participate in studies on the existing infrastructure and propose/present improvements.
·Lead/follow-up/challenge and instruct the outsourcing partner in the execution of their operational tasks, in order to achieve all goals in time.
·Analyze the impact of security related issues and act accordingly or instruct other teams to do so.
·Write procedures and documentation , and instruct the outsourcing partner on how to handle them.
·Assist thetsourcing partner and business partners when complex issues/problems arise.

You should also
·have a strong affinity with the related technologies in IaaS, as there are: AIX, RHEL, VMware, network and storage.
·keep up-to-date with the market evolution.

Your profile

knowledge and experience
·Owner of a Master degree in computer science or Engineer.
·A proven track record (or a vast number of years of experience) of managing large-scale Solaris infrastructures.
·Relevant experience in RHEL, VMware (vSphere 5.x/6.x, ESXi, vCentre) and/or AIX (PowerVM (VIO), HMC and HACMP) is a major plus.
·Problem solving and design skills are a must.
·A thorough understanding of Solaris clusters and patching strategies.
·Experience with Disaster Recovery designs and exercises.
·Good knowledge of security related topics.
·Knowledge of the most common scripting/programming languages.
·French or Dutch with fluent knowledge of English.
