Systems Engineer Job

SYSTEMS ENGINEER needed for a nine (9) month contract opportunity with Yoh's client located in Erie, PA.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

- Define requirements and interfaces for locomotive third party boxes including airbrakes, ETCS, and Human Machine Interface.
- Design, integrate, implement and validate control and diagnostic algorithms for airbrake and train control systems.
- Lead/Support the evaluation and conceptualization of new airbrake and train control systems and applications.
- Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product/program requirements
- Document technical data generated by the assigned project consistent with engineering policies and procedures
- Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING TO THE TABLE:

- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Physics
- At least three (3) years of experience in an engineering position (preferably systems)
- Experience with airbrakes, pneumatic systems or train control systems
- Experience with serial communication protocols (ie RS422, RS232) and/or Ethernet
- Ability and willingness to work "hands-on" in test labs and on locomotives with high HP (1000 KVA), medium voltage (2 KV) and high current (10 KA) systems

BONUS POINTS! PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

- Masters in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Physics
- Experience with system level validation testing
- Experience with transportation/locomotive systems, control, diagnostics, design or test
- Experience with Design For Six Sigma (DFSS) tools (ie FMEA, Score Cards)
- Strong technical aptitude, including applicable engineering tools and systems
- Solid oral and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
