Systems Design Engineer

Working for the organisation's end client, you will be responsible for undertaking solution research, design and documentation activities associated with the project.

In addition to this, you will also be responsible for:

SYSTEMS DESIGN

- Designing and implementing new communications links to capture data from new systems,
- Diagram the system to the standard as stipulated by the project manager,
- Possible designing of translation software.

ANALYSIS:

- Investigating system interfaces/liaising with various source communities,
- Developing ingest and export capabilities using native API and custom-developed interfaces.

DOCUMENTATION:

- Transition To Operations documentation
- Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Detailed Designs
- Fault Logs

Skills required:

- Demonstrated experience and knowledge in software development (Java, Perl, Unix Scripting)
- Experience developing complex SQL queries and establishing connectivity via JDBC, ODBC..
- Experience and knowledge of systems architecture and software applications.
- Strong understanding of networks, routing and Firewalls.
- Software/Systems Engineering (or equivalent) qualifications and relevant experience.
- Experienced in technical reporting, writing and diagramming and using MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and MS Project).
