Systems/Data Analyst

Overview

The candidate will be responsible for performing analytic duties for a new web-based system for the United States Treasury. Duties will include interviewing, documenting requirements, analysing documentation, maintaining the project†s analysis knowledge base, analysing data in both new development projects and application support efforts.

Candidate should be experienced with facilitating client interview sessions and directly participating in detailed analysis and data modelling discussions.

The business clients for this application are geographically dispersed. Much of the requirements gathering and definition phases will be performed on conference calls. An occasional trip to Washington D.C is possible but rare. Trips usually last three days and occur every 2 †3 months.

At a minimum, project team will consist of one project manager, two systems analysts, a senior Java developer, and several web developers. Department level application and database architects will work closely with each project team as required.

Required Skills/Experience:

- Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal.
- At least three years experience working with web applications.
- A thorough understanding of the Unified Process.
- Report specs/layouts
- Data extrapolation/manipulation (eg ETL)
- Data/business process interactions & dependencies
- Oracle or SQL developer experience
- Ability to create SQL to analyze and test data.
- Excellent analytical skills.
- Some Facilitation skills
- Ability to read and understand Entity Relationship Diagrams

Preferred Skills/Experience

- Experience working with geographically dispersed clients.
- At least three years experience performing as an Object Oriented Analyst.
- OO Technical design and development background
- Creating Use Cases and activity and sequence diagrams.
- Mocking up reports or web pages (Dreamweaver or similar product).

Responsibilities include:

- Supporting production applications.
- Assisting project manager with planning and estimation.
- Performing verification testing with developers.
