Systems Administrator Job

SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR needed for a contract opportunity with Yoh's client located in Palo Alto, CA.

The Big Picture - Top Skills You Should Possess:
- Automation with Chef
- Programming with Ruby
- Unix flavors (eg Solaris, HPUX, Linux)

What You'll Be Doing:
- Monitoring of Servers, addressing any issues raised and ensuring that SLAs are met
- Pro-active maintenance of Servers and supporting infrastructure
- Manage end user accounts, permissions, access rights, and storage allocations in accordance with best-practices regarding privacy, security, and regulatory compliance
- Participate in and support capacity planning for systems and software in conjunction with end-users and department managers.
- Coordinate with end-users and other IT infrastructure groups to implement server systems that utilize industry best practices to meet corporate objectives
- Deploy Servers and other related devices in datacenters
- Perform and test routine system backups and restores
- Anticipate, mitigate, identify, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware and software problems on Servers. Escalate incidents as necessary
- Support application development teams throughout project life cycles.
- Analyze system, server, application, network, and input/output device performance
- Recommend, schedule, and perform software and hardware improvements, upgrades, patches, reconfigurations, and/or purchases
- Create required reports in response to business user needs
- Develop, document, and maintain policies, procedures and associated training plans for system administration and appropriate use
- Manage and/or provide guidance to junior members of the team

What You Need to Bring to the Table:
- Experience with Chef and Ruby language
- Technical knowledge of other Unix flavors (eg Solaris, HPUX, Linux)
- Knowledge of other IT technologies (Network, Storage, ) a plus
- Technical knowledge of Windows
