Support Solution DBA

Exciting opportunity for a senior DBA...

Strategy & Planning:
o Assist in the planning and management of development projects
o Participate in the Design Authority process
o Contribute to process improvement to obtain efficiencies
o Define and ensure the adoption of database standard across Information Systems
o Recommend and implement improvements to environments to ensure continued operational capacity

Organisation & Capability
o Time and workload management

o Seek out training opportunities to advance skills and monitor through your regular performance reviews
o Provide guidance to the development team on best practices for database design and development
o Capacity planning for development, QA and production environments
? Ensure business expectations are managed through clear and regular communication

o Adhere to standard project principles and processes
o Deliver solutions on time, on budget to agreed quality criteria
? Manage customer expectations via regular communication
? Meet or exceed agreed SLA's
? Produce and maintain appropriate user and support documentation
? Effective problem management and issue escalation
? Participate in business readiness for system and operational change

Key Skills and Experience required;
o Excellent SQL Server knowledge within production and administration areas
o Good T-SQL skills and ideally with some exposure to SSIS or SSRS
o An understanding of the .NET framework and C#.NET (or VB.NET)
o Experience in troubleshooting and resolving database issues.
o Experience in Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO), using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
o Experience with backups, restores and recovery models.
o Proven track record in a production support role, either as a DBA or application support
o Understanding of RPO and RTO.

PROJECT RELATED EXPERIENCE
o Good analytical skills with an aptitude for problem resolution
o Provide advice and guidance of production and deployment aspects of a project
o Focus on delivery - ability to work to strict deadlines with good planning, scheduling, monitoring and organisational skills for self and other developers on project team
o Manage by exception - communicate effectively within the project team and to all stakeholders, escalate as appropriate
o Learn from experience - incorporate lessons learnt from previous projects and document lessons for future use. Encourage this practise in the team.
o Ability to write both user and technical documentation, e.g. Visio, ERD, UML
