Structural Analyst/Test Engineer

A great opportunity to work within a large and well established organisation specialising cutting edge Space technology. This role is a mid term initial contract based in Guildford.

Responsible For:-

The analysis, testing and design of spacecraft systems and subsystems.
Reporting to the MA&T team leader, and working closely with principal analysts.

Key Tasks

Primary Role

- Undertaking structural and thermal analysis of both in-house and 3rd party systems/sub-systems
- Validating numerical analyses using benchmarks with analytical solutions
- Developing environmental envelope specifications from launch documentation, analysis and test data
- Finite element modelling of mechanical components and structures
- Writing test plans/Testing of sub systems including vibration, static and shock testing

PERSON SPECIFICATION (essential requirements)

Qualifications

- Good Mechanical Degree or equivalent

Experience

- A good understanding of the principles of FEA
- Experience in the use of a 3D CAD HND/degree level with 5+ years mechanical design/analytical experience using a leading package essential.
- Efficient use of Nastran/Patran

Knowledge & Skills

- Extensive mechanical analysis skills
- Background in Spacecraft, Aircraft or Formula 1 systems and sub-systems
- Finite Element Analysis
- Detailed hand stressing
