Storage Engineer

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

- Responsible for the detailed design, delivery and support of technical infrastructure services, standards, processes and architecture solutions.
- Advanced technical support and guidance (Level 3 and higher) on x86 Server and Storage matters working with other system, database and application administrators so that the relevant stakeholders have access to reliable, high quality services and systems.
- Ensure that server, storage systems and environments are supported and maintained to externally contracted, and internally agreed service levels, availability and performance metrics.
- Capacity and Performance Management as well as ongoing review and refinement of solutions
- Contribute to the achievement of the IT architecture and designs to add value to my client's expanding business needs and requirements whilst minimising risk and reducing cost.
- Provide operational vision, solutions and hands-on leadership. Ability to solve complex technical problems as well as architect new solutions in both BAU and project space

YOU WILL HAVE STRONG KNOWLEDGE OF:

- Deep technical understanding of x86 Server systems (in particular HP systems including but not limited to: HP Blade Systems, HP Enclosures)
- Deep technical understanding of SAN storage systems (including but not limited to Hitachi VSP, NetApp FAS and vFiler Series, HP EVA)
- Deep technical understanding of SAN performance (including but not limited to IO Performance Analysis, Determine Bottlenecks and Performance Tuning Opportunities, Capacity Planning for Growth and Project Capacity Increases, Storage Controller Aggregate/Volume Performance and Balancing, SAN Switch Tuning and Port Optimization)
- Strong technical background in VMware and associated Virtualisation Technologies
- Solid background in Microsoft Server Platforms as well as Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policies Design and Implementation experience
- Solid understanding of Linux and UNIX based OS
- Knowledge and understanding of DMZ security, Firewalls and VPN technologies
- Backup Experience with Symantec Netbackup
- Exposure to Data Protection Solutions including EMC Data Domain, HP VLS
