Static Data and Reporting Analyst - Asset Management - Contract

The Static Data and Reporting Analyst is responsible for the quality of static data (eg securities, funds, products), support of data feeds and associated reporting provided to Front Office systems and departments. This is achieved through exception based controls on incoming data feeds, maintaining data, and producing reports from a centralised database.

The role is for a data and reporting specialist who is competent at solving complex problems, providing excellent data support services and co-ordinating improvements to the service provision.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITY:

Static Data Management:

Perform root cause analysis of exceptions, liaising with Fund Managers, Data Vendors, Fund Administrators and other internal staff to solve complex data issues

Ensure the accurate and timely validation and delivery of security, benchmark and classification data, from Markit EDM to investment systems covering Performance, Risk, Client Reporting, Treasury, and Fund Management

Participate in the daily workflow of the investment data team in providing support for Front Office systems

Perform daily review, analysis and resolution of exceptions produced from the automated data management system. The types of exception normally relate to investment data such as securities, benchmarks, portfolio holdings and transactions

Reporting:

Produce daily and monthly reporting to agreed timescales

Ensure all aggregated information reaches high data quality standards before being released, through analysis of movements and data checks

Ensure periodic (monthly, quarterly, etc) information requests are validated and delivered within the agreed timeframes

Monitor information quality in internal systems to ensure that SLAs are maintained, and any issues are fully investigated and resolved in a timely manner

Operate daily regulatory reporting procedures and contribute towards further automation of these processes

Industry and Company Knowledge:

-

Develop a comprehensive knowledge of a suite of internal and external business applications and how to accurately record, review and extract reference data within those systems

Have strong understanding of the contents of the Data Catalogue and also the impact on downstream business processes. Ensure the Data Catalogue is kept up-to-date

Have a sound understanding of instruments (equities, bonds, derivatives) and products (OEICs, Life/Pension Funds, Hedge Funds) and the integration of this data into the reporting process

ESSENTIAL:

-

Proven track record of achievement. Experience in a financial services organisation, or Blue Chip Organisations, or a with a provider of financial data would be desirable

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written

Strong analytical skills to solve difficult problems

Existing knowledge and a willingness to learn about the investment industry

Good prioritisation skills, managing time effectively while focussing on the key issues

Good IT skills, eg Microsoft Excel - with the ability to learn new systems

Graduate calibre (2:1 preferred)

DESIRABLE:

-

Previous experience of financial data systems, such as FactSet, Bloomberg, Reuters, Markit EDM, Thinkfolio or Eagle PACE is an advantage

Threshold competency would be advantageous (for example through IAQ or IMC qualifications).
