Sr.) Radio Access Network Design Engineer

OVERALL PURPOSE OF POSITION:

- The (Sr.) Radio Access Network Design Engineer is responsible for all detail planning aspect of the access network including translating the marketing requirements into radio network design ie number of sites required and ranking.
- The access design engineer is also responsible to translate the high-level designs as defined by the Network Solution department into ready to implement low level designs

THE SENIOR RADIO ACCESS NETWORK DESIGN ENGINEER ROLE:

- Oversees the day-to-day activities of work for the team and is acts as the main contact person for the Access & Transport design team, with focus on taking in requests and tasks (eg projects, analysis) from the manager or organization and allocating these among the (internal and external) team members.
- The senior role accepts the ownership and coordination of timely delivery, next to the expected engineering tasks associated with the

Radio Access Network design Engineer role in general.

- Possess an in-depth knowledge/skill and is also able to apply this knowledge/skill to solve complex problems and issues
- Acts as a facilitator and mentor and is able to move the team forward
- Builds an environment that supports co-operation among the work team and with other areas within the organization

KEY RESULTS/OUTPUT OF POSITION:

- Translate the high level marketing requirements into the Access Network Master plan which will include the initial plan in terms of number site locations and the priority of those sites according to the requirements.
- Data build per site (ie planned configurations) for ready to implement radio solutions for the new planned sites, modernization and expansions projects.
- Steer the flexible workforce (Contractors) assigned to his/her area of responsibility including coordinating and ensuring the output of the assigned flexible work force.
- Decrease Radio network costs while achieving quality and budget targets
- Adapt Radio Network design for changes in the Yearly Aggregated Year Plan based on deviations requested by the marketing or sales department.
- Provide pre-sales support to the business sales department in the prospective customer acquisition process.
- Support Network Architecture and Solution teams within Network infrastructure department in various studies

QUALIFICATIONS:

- MSc. or BSc. in Telecoms or Electrical/Electronics engineering or relevant practical experience.
- Fluency in English is required.
- Strong analytical, verbal and written communication is essential

EXPERIENCE:

- 1-3 years experience in Telecom with exposure in mobile access networks.
- For the senior a 3 - 5 years experience in Telecom with exposure in mobile access networks.

Proven experience in working in project/process driven environment

- In-depth knowledge of mobile network architectures.
- In-depth knowledge in Radio network planning and design.
- In depth knowledge of mobile telecommunication standards (GSM, UMTS,LTE etc.)
- Experience of geographical information systems (GIS) tools, MS excel, MS access and other computer-aided-design tools
- Technical knowledge of data communication technologies

CHALLENGES AND OPPORTUNITIES:

Achieving a high Radio access network quality and substantial cost efficiency/reduction in an environment with new technological developments, fast growing capacity demands, increasing customer expectation is a true challenge.

Additional challenges for Access Network Design involve network design based on marketing requirements in uncertain market

conditions and secondly, competence building within the department on industry innovations in order to roll out new products and services
