JOB TITLE: SQL DBA

LOCATION: Houston, TX

SALARY: $35-38/HOUR

HOUSTON BASED COMPANY HAS AN IMMEDIATE NEED FOR A SQL SERVER DBA FOR A ONE YEAR CONTRACT THAT COULD POTENTIALLY BE EXTENDED.

The Database Developer is responsible for developing and maintaining extract and load (ETL) processes that support our operations data store and customer-facing web application and to develop and maintain data integration projects for data-driven applications and ERP systems. This includes the use of SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS) and Report Services (SSRS) development supporting all applications.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Design and develop SQL Server 2012 databases, functions and stored procedures

Building, maintaining, administering and supporting SQL Server databases
-

Responsible for keeping data secure by managing access, privileges, and information
-

Database administrators are also responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining database management software tools
-

Installing software upgrades, coordinating hardware upgrades, and managing database server life cycles
-

Develop and document backup and recovery strategies, capacity monitoring/planning, routine testing and managing system standards
-

Responsible for ensuring availability, integrity and performance of Databases
-

Creating database functional requirements as an input to application design
-

Performs ongoing performance tuning and optimization activities
-

Maintaining and increasing knowledge of new products, tools, and technologies
-

Design and direct the ETL processes, including data accuracy and testing
-

Define technical requirements for the data marts and data stores
-

Define and design production release procedures

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Strong Knowledge of TSQL
-

In-depth knowledge of database design and profiling
-

Ability to work on multiple tasks/projects with minimal supervision
-

High availability - SQL Server 2012 clustering administration and support
-

SQL 2008/2012Replication administration and support
-

SQL 2008/2012Reporting Services
-

Administration of SQL Server security permissions and best practices
-

Tune database performance, suggesting indexes and optimization techniques
-

Experience in SQL 2008/2012 and ability to write complex queries
-

Full development life cycle: Requirements, design, build, test and deploy.
-

Experience with VLDs and/or Data partitioning is a plus
-

Great communication skills
-

Strong ETL and data modelling experience, both 3NF and star schema design
-

Strong SQL and analytical skills
-

Strong experience with Microsoft Business Intelligence Stack (SSRS, SSAS and SSIS)

Experience designing relational and multi-dimensional models
