SQL DBA/Database Administrator - Contract - London

SQL DBA/DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR - CONTRACT - LONDON

Contract- 3 months

£370 per day

TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

- 3+ years SQL Server Database Administration experience in both development & production environments
- Significant experience with SQL 2005, 2008 R2, 2012
- Experience of implementing and supporting SQL Clusters and other HA/DR solutions
- Practical experience in database and query performance tuning
- T-SQL Skills and experience in writing database maintenance procedures
- Knowledge of Powershell a benefit
- Experience with SSIS & SSRS useful

THE ROLE:

- Responsible for maximising availability and performance of the database estate which support the firm.
- Improve operational stability across the global database estate whilst reducing the costs and overhead associated with deployment, maintenance and support
- To provide proactive event management processes to ensure all issues are escalated as appropriate and within a timely fashion
- Capacity Management of the database estate with particular regards to making efficient use of hardware and license resources
- Maintenance of the SQL Database platform, ensuring that patches and releases are applied appropriately and EOSL versions deprecated as relevant
- Assisting in-house developers and external vendors with "best-practice" use of the database platform for releases and database feature use
