Spectroscopist

PRIMARY DUTIES:

- The primary duties of this position will be to provide the structural elucidation of metabolic unknowns through the use of NMR spectroscopy and mass spectrometry.
- The successful candidate will be expected to prepare isolated metabolites for NMR analysis, acquire relevant qualitative and quantitative NMR data (1H, COSY, TOCSY, HSQC, HMBC etc.), interpret this data to determine the structures of metabolite compounds and summarize this information in written and/or oral reports.

SKILLS:

TRAINING, EDUCATION AND PRIMARY EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

- Masters or PhD in analytical or organic chemistry.
- Demonstrated track record of technical problem solving in structure elucidations preferred with 3-7 years of experience post degree.
- Skillful knowledge in data acquisition and interpretation of NMR and LC/MS.
- Hands-on experience on Burker NMR instruments preferred.
- Proficient with NMR software, such as TopSpin, MNova/ACD. Experience with MS data analysis softwear MassLynx would be useful.
- Motivated team player with good communication skills, able to work closely with other scientific disciplines involved in drug discovery to solve complex problems.
- Proven track record of written and oral communication desired.
