JOB SUMMARY:

WE ARE CURRENTLY SEEKING A SOLUTION ARCHITECT TO JOIN THE MARKET INTELLIGENCE OPERATIONS (MIOPS) AND BANKING OPERATIONS (BAC) GROUP. FOLLOWING THE GENERAL DIRECTION OF THE ENTERPRISE ARCHITECT AND WORKING CLOSELY WITH THE DEVELOPMENT TEAMS, YOU WILL BE:

- Responsible for contributing to the development and maintenance of the solution architectures for the Financial Markets (FMD) and Funds Management and Banking (FBD) business departments.
- Accountable for creating architectures for the development and integration of business and information systems to enable streamlined application interfaces, improved application redundancy and efficient distribution of data in support of business objectives.
- Ensuring that the application, data, integration and network/infrastructure architectures are designed to meet evolving business requirements and standards for reliability, scalability and availability.
- Be part of the MIOPS/BAC team of solution architects working under the direction of the Assistant Director, Funds Management and Banking/Financial Markets portfolio.
- Help refine the Bank's future-state vision; evolve principles, standards and guidelines; and embed processes that are driven by Enterprise Solution Architecture into daily practice.
- Help ensure that the chosen solutions are closely aligned with the Bank's road maps and best practices.

KEY REQUIREMENTS:

- UNIVERSITY DEGREE IN A RELEVANT FIELD OF STUDY, SUCH AS COMPUTER SCIENCE OR ENGINEERING.
- 3+ YEARS OF EXPERIENCE IN A SOLUTION ARCHITECT ROLE in organizations with 200+ employees using various high availability solutions.
- 7+ YEARS OF OVERALL EXPERIENCE ACROSS A BLEND OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY AND BUSINESS SETTINGS, ideally in a mix of banking, government or mid to large-size corporations.
- ENGLISH AND FRENCH DESIRED - linguistic requirement: (minimum starting level) intermediate level in second official language (training may be provided to help the selected candidate reach the required level of functional).
- Experience in the development of enterprise-class solutions architectures.
- Self-motivated and independent, requiring little supervision but with the ability to function effectively as part of a team.
- Demonstrated experience with a variety of technologies/approaches, including j2ee, packaged applications (cots), multi-platform applications and service-oriented architecture (soa).
- Demonstrated experience with different architecture/design techniques (e.g., object-oriented, top-down, structured analysis, component-based design) and tools.
- Strong business acumen, including the ability to translate business needs into application solutions.
- Ability to quickly grasp the essence of a complex issue and to synthesize data/views to capture and communicate key points.
- Ability to think beyond the work environment and make decisions in the context of the total environment.
- Ability to organize content and write in a style appropriate to the audience and to the purpose of the document.
- Ability to assemble and deliver presentations tailored to specific audiences.

ASSETS

- An understanding of Canada's financial and banking systems.
- Exposure to diverse work environments, with a broad understanding of multiple business sectors, hardware and software technologies, data- and information-management practices, and IT security.
- Exposure to specialized environments such as those tailored to high-availability (mission-critical) and Banking.
- Recognized IT-industry certification such as TOGAF, Zachman, ITIL and project-management certification.
- Knowledge of numerous leading vendor platforms, such as Oracle, Hitachi, Cisco, Microsoft and IBM, as well as mainstream open-source frameworks and products.
