Software Test Engineer Job

SOFTWARE TEST ENGINEER needed for a CONTRACT opportunity with Yoh's client located in SKANEATELES, NY.

THE BIG PICTURE - TOP SKILLS SHOULD YOU POSSESS:

- Manual and Automated Testing
- Knowledge of common Scripting language
- Knowledge of C#

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

- Verification and validation of Embedded and PC based systems with a focus on software.
- Generation of test reports to summarize execution of tests, highlights of critical information, and pass/fail justifications.
- Analysis of design and implementation plans to determine appropriate tests and test suites that need to be developed and executed.
- Creation of test protocols and schedules that meet project deliverables.
- Collaboration with engineers to co-develop testability features into Embedded routines to facilitate automated validation and regression testing.
- Assistance with initial hardware bring-up and isolating issues to hardware or software areas.
- Providing support and debug of Embedded systems currently in production, interfacing with production engineers as appropriate.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING TO THE TABLE:

- Ability to engineer and strategize test plans.
- Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Windows and Linux operating systems as well as strong proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Excellent problem solving abilities and strong technical aptitude with the ability to learn quickly using manuals and documented instructions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to write clear and effective requirements, test protocols, and defect reports.
- General hardware and software debugging skills.

BONUS POINTS! OTHERWISE KNOWN AS PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

- Passion for quality and driving improvement.
- Experience with common test Scripting languages and tools such as Python, vbScript, AutoIt, Autohotkey, Visual Basic/C#, as well as linux Shell Scripting environments such as sh and bash.
- Experience with test automation frameworks such as Telerik Test Studio, Microsoft Test Manager, QuickTestPro, or TestComplete,
- Proficient in utilizing popular defect management tools such as HP QualityCenter, Microsoft TFS, Jira, or Bugzilla,
- Experience with Design for Six Sigma tools.
- Experience with or knowledge of video systems, illumination technologies, and video borescopes.
- Experience with specifying and writing self-test code to verify proper functioning of hardware.
- Ability to interface with stakeholders to develop and review requirements and plans.
- Desire to be part of a highly collaborative team of engineers, product managers, and production employees.
- Detail-oriented, highly collaborative, and self-starting.
