Software Test Engineer

Software Test Engineer performs complex testing tasks requiring planning, scheduling, and execution. Manages own assignments and schedule and serves as a resource for other departments on issues related to the tester's modules. Provides assistance to less experienced testers with difficult problems regarding testing approaches, application knowledge. This level of test engineer operates under minimal supervision.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

- Performs complex product testing, reporting on problems encountered and documenting test results for follow-up.
- Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of software testing practices.
- Continually expands knowledge of software development processes.
- Should increasingly demonstrate skills in software programming and automated test ware development.
- Researches situations and seeks input from subject matter experts to ensure fact-based recommendations and decisions are being made during all phases of product development.
- Demonstrates accountability for completing work assignments, meeting commitments and deadlines.
- Reviews product requirements, software specifications, test plans and user documentation.
- Creates and maintains test cases, test programs, data and automation test programs.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

- BS degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent work experience required
- Minimum of 4-6 years' experience in Software Testing, Software Development, Applications Engineering work, Technical Support, or other Testing/Quality Assurance role
- Proficiency in Windows operating systems (2003, 2008, XP, Vista) required
- Experience with Microsoft Office products required
- Working knowledge of software test methodologies required
- Experience with automated test tools is beneficial
- Must exhibit good interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Familiarity with industrial automation software products, especially client software products preferred
- Experience programming in Visual Studio (Visual Basic and/or Visual C++) preferred
- Experience with industrial control equipment preferred
