Software Engineer - C# Applications - SC Cleared

BAE Systems have a new requirement for a Software Engineer for an initial 12 month contract. Please note that there may be some flexibility in the rate.

Job Role:

To monitor, assess and produce innovative real-time computing product concepts, demonstrators, standards and specifications, both bespoke and 'off the-shelf'.

To evolve from the software requirements a design and test philosophy in order to produce a top level and detailed design that will be used as a baseline for the maintainable software implementation including the prediction of software size and performance.

To produce unit and integration test descriptions that incorporate the appropriate test philosophies. To produce fully tested code units in the appropriate software language that fully implement all requirements on the target hardware, using the software detailed design as the baseline.

Background Information:

The Air Group Management Application (AGMA) is required by the QueenElizabeth Aircraft Carrier (QEC) programme to manage flight deck and hanger operations, aircraft flight planning, crew assignments and weapon movements.

As a Software Engineer on the Air Group Management Application (AGMA) system your main responsibilities will involve:

Development of this large, web deployed software application. The initial schedule envisages a development project before moving into a support phase. As a Software Engineer you will build, integrate and conduct evaluations of the existing software and methods used before developing the next release of AGMA software.

* Experience of software development using Agile type methods.
* Experience of writing software applications using modern visual, web deployed tools. C# essential and Silverlight experience desirable.
* Experience of MS Visual Studio essential and MS Entity Framework desirable
* Knowledge of database design and associated software architectures.
* Proven track record working in a software development team.
* Proven ability to accurately estimate software code complexity and size.

* Recent experience in software integration activities
* Successfully achieved test and acceptance on a complex,multi-disciplined development project.
* Able to present ideas and explain the rationale in both written and verbal form, including the preparation of requirement and design documentation.
* Previous experience on a Royal Navy and/or Aviation project desirable.

Strong communication skills are essential as the SW Engineer will be expected to liaise closely with the rest of the ACA Engineering and site teams in order to deliver a successful system. The role will require some travel within the UK.
