Software Development Engineer Job

SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER needed for a CONTRACT opportunity with Yoh's client located in Brea, CA.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

- A developer to work in the custom laboratory automation development group.
- Collects, interprets and documents system requirements.
- Leads and/or participates in component, subsystem and system concept design verifying key design parameters and evaluating design options.
- Develops and recommends methods, tools and designs for software development process improvement or development cost reduction.
- Summarizes and presents details of designs, analytical methods and results.
- Leads and/or participates on multi-functional product research and development teams, product and/or system design reviews.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING TO THE TABLE:

- Experience working in a fast-paced environment developing custom software products and device interfaces for a wide variety of automation workstations and robotic systems.
- Computer Science or related degree with five (5) plus years of experience OR Master´s degree with three (3) plus years of experience
- Six to twelve (6-12) years of experience writing Windows applications in Microsoft Visual Studio or similar development environments
- Experience with the following technologies: COM, Delphi, C#, .NET Framework and VBScript
- Will have strong software engineering best practices background, with demonstrated ability to adhere to source control and design control processes
- Must possess a focused urgency and willingness to manage multiple short- and moderate-duration projects simultaneously
- Possess professional written and verbal communication skills for interaction with engineering team, technical support personnel and customers
- Demonstrated strong teamwork skills.
- Experienced in digital implementation of PID control including algorithm development, system identification, process tuning and troubleshooting.
- Motor control experience with servo motors.
- ARM (Advanced RISC Machine) processor experience for the Cortex M4.
- PID (Proportional Integral Derivative) controls (control loop for the servos and thermistors)
- Experience in x86 assembly language (Intel x86 previous language used on Immage 800).
- Hardware background (ie Timers.)
- Real Time programming experience.
- C++ experience for Middleware.
- Medical device experience.
- Familiarity with a FDA-regulated environment a plus.
- Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
- C++, Visual Basic, Microsoft SQL and database technology
- Willingness to travel and assist or train customers at site of system deployment
- Working with agile development processes
- Understanding of functional language programming (eg, Scheme)
- Controlling physical instrumentation from software
- Quoting software development effort based on input requirements
- Managing technical support tasks including gathering diagnostic information.
