Projektbeschreibung

This position has an expected end date of 12 months from the date of hire, with the possibility of extension.

The Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL) provides educational leadership that supports excellence in teaching to the university community. CTL is the primary source for consultation, support, design and delivery of E-learning technology and teaching services. The CTL achieves its mandate by connecting with learning communities, cultivating engagement through research and innovation, linking teaching methods with pedagogical research and effective uses of technology, as well as providing support for existing and emerging E-learning technologies.

As a member of the CTL, the Software Developer provides software solutions, quality assurance and technical support for the University of Alberta's E-learning initiatives.

DUTIES

- Develops and maintains software to integrate the central Learning Management System with the Synchronous Learning System
- Provides testing and documentation of the central E-learning systems and application for quality assurance
- Develops add-ons to extend the functionalities in the central Learning Management System and Synchronous Learning System
- Provides technical support to faculty, staff and students in areas related to the use of centrally supported E-learning systems and applications
- Designs and develops interactive tools and applications in support of E-learning administration and services
- Prepares support documentation and online materials, delivers demonstrations and provides consultations to end-users as required

QUALIFICATIONS

- The ideal candidate will have a BSc in Computing Science; advanced degree in a related field preferred; equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in software development in a team environment
- Expertise with Flash, Flex, ActionScript, PHP, JavaScript, CSS, and Git
- Experience in Adobe Connect extensions design and development is preferred
- Knowledge of web development, learning management systems, and experience in educational technology
- Experience in Moodle plug-in design and development is an asset
- Excellent problem solving abilities, and strong organizational and communications (oral and written) skills
