Software Developer

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Develops software for automated medical instruments that process patient samples into DNA/RNA and then analyzes for various medical conditions.
- Focuses on the interaction of the instrument control level and the application layer. Individual will be responsible for fault isolation, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis activities during system integration and testing for systems in development.
- Overall responsibilities include being able to actively participate in all software development life cycle activities from product and software requirement development through design verification and validation.
- Leads development activities for a portion of a software project, and is accountable for meeting deliverable commitments including schedule and quality requirements.
- Directs activities of junior developers, and will provide coaching and mentoring to them.

SKILLS

This position requires the demonstrated ability to implement instrument controls, process scheduling, application interaction and user interfaces. Instrument control development requires experience with QNX or CANBUS, and the ability to work with third party vendors developing new hardware.
Must have skills to plan work activities of a small team, coordinate activities with others development teams and lead reviews such as Design Review, Code Review, Requirements Review and Test Plan Review.

Minimum Education:
B.S. is required;
MS preferred in Computer Science or similar engineering discipline including Software Engineering.
As this is primarily a software development position, other disciplines such as Biomedical Engineering or Mathematics will only be considered with demonstrated experience in software development.

Minimum Experience/Training Required:
7+ years experience participating in a team oriented software development environment.
Experience in a regulated environment such as medical, nuclear or aerospace.
AGILE and SCRUM software development methods.
QNX, CANBUS.
Microsoft Visual Studio,.NET, C#.
User Interface development in Windows Forms or WPF/XAML.
Experience with SQL databases. Scripting languages (eg IronPython).
